About Block Paving

What Are Block Paving?

Block paving is the timeless British driveway — individual clay or concrete blocks laid in patterns that combine strength, repairability and genuine kerb appeal. Because each block is separate, a block-paved drive can be lifted and re-laid to access services underneath, and individual blocks can be replaced if ever damaged. With endless colours, sizes and patterns available, block paving suits everything from a period cottage to a modern new-build.

FAQs

Block Paving — Frequently Asked Questions

Do block-paved driveways get weeds?

We use kiln-dried jointing sand and can apply a joint stabiliser to dramatically reduce weed growth. Occasional re-sanding keeps the drive looking fresh.

Will block paving sink over time?

Not if the sub-base is prepared correctly. We compact type 1 MOT in layers and haunch all edges — the most common cause of sinking is poor base preparation, which we never skip.

Can I choose a pattern?

Yes — herringbone, stretcher bond, basket weave and random layouts are all available, with decorative borders and edging to match your property.

How much does block paving cost?

Block paving typically starts from around £70–£100 per m² fully installed, depending on the block choice, pattern complexity and ground preparation. Clay pavers and intricate borders cost a little more. Your free quotation gives an exact, itemised price.

How long does installation take?

An average driveway of 50–80 m² takes 4–6 days: excavation and sub-base first, then laying, cutting, sanding and compaction. We keep the site tidy and accessible throughout.

How do I maintain block paving?

Sweep regularly, re-sand the joints every year or two, and a gentle pressure wash keeps it clean. We can apply a sealant to lock in the sand and repel stains and oil. We'll advise on the right maintenance routine for your blocks.
